Thymosin beta 4 acetate(Cas 77591-33-4) Usage

Thymosin β-4 is an endogenous pro-angiogenic, fibroblast-activating peptide that is involved in hormone regulation. It is a 5-kDa polypeptide originally identified in calf thymus. Thymosin β-4 also exhibits immunomodulatory and cardioprotective activities. Thymosin beta 4 is composed of 43 amino acid residues with acetyl serine at the NH2 terminus.

Uses Thymosin β-4 improves would healing in cardiac issue and improves cardiac function in vivo. Thymosin β-4 binds G-actin filaments, preventing actin polymerization. Thymosin beta 4 (Tβ4) was found to promote wound healing in full-thickness skin wounds and heptanol-debrided corneas.

Thymosin Beta-4 is a 43-amino-acid peptide that promotes healing throughout the body. It also has anti-inflammatory properties. Found naturally in higher concentrations at injury sites, the water-soluble protein can repair tissue damage and regulate cell migration to a site. It can improve wound healing and repair not only the skin, but also the brain, spinal cord, and heart. Medical professionals consider Thymosin Beta-4 a safe and powerful substance in its natural or synthetic form known as TB-500.In addition, TB4 has a low molecular weight and doesn’t bind to the extracellular matrix. This enables it to easily travel throughout body tissues, which promotes a faster rate of healing. The peptide travels long distances, so it usually doesn’t have to be injected directly at the injury site. While some believe injecting it closer to an injured area yields better results, clinical evidence suggests otherwise.

Chemical characterization of thymosin beta 4.

, Journal of Biological Chemistry, Volume 257, Issue 2, 25 January 1982, Pages 1000-1006

Thymosin beta 4 has Mr = 4982 and an isoelectric point of 5.1. Thymosin beta 4 is one of the biologically active peptides present in thymosin fractions 5 and 5A which participate in the regulation, differentiation, and function of thymus-derived lymphocytes and may also act directly or indirectly on macrophages and perhaps other cells involved in cell-mediated immunity.

Matrigel induces thymosin β4 gene in differentiating endothelial cells

, J Cell Sci (1995) 108 (12): 3685–3694.

One of the clones, thymosin β4, previously not known to be associated with endothelial cells, nor known to be involved in their cell regulation, was found by northern analysis to increase at early times (over a 6 hour period) in cells on Matrigel. Alternatively, thymosin β4 may have additional biological actions yet to be defined.
